Arranging a Baptism at St. Cuthberts in Fishlake

Why Fishlake St. Cuthbert? Because it's a great place to have your child baptised! Plenty of room, a relaxed child-friendly atmosphere, some toys for the little ones and a toilet in the Church with baby changing facilities.

Any child can be baptised at St. Cuthberts if you live in the village, or begin to worship there.  If you live outside the parish you can still have your child baptised at St. Cuthberts, but we may need to check with your local CofE Priest where you live.

What happens at a baptism?  At St. Cuthberts they normally take place on the fourth Sunday of each month and the standard baptism service includes Holy Communion along with the baptism and generally lasts about an hour.   Alternatively a shorter service can be arranged later in the morning or afternoon and usually includes a few hymns, prayers and a short sermon.  If preferred, it can be shorter still without hymns.   We will always see what we can arrange for you.

For refreshments afterwards there is a good pub in the village right by the Church as well as  two cafes, plus two excellent B&Bs (one with a spa).    Then only a short distance away - (approximately 1/2 mile) there is a well-established event catering operation which can seat up to 170 guests and also has both self-catering and B&B accommodation.  We find a number of those choosing to  have their child baptised in the Church come to Fishlake because of the excellent local facilities, which can make some aspects of organising  this special day a good deal easier.

Call us today or come and see us - the Church is normally open every day in the year from 9:00am to dusk and please check our home page for any changes.
